One of the consequences of the real estate bubble in Spain suffered between 1998 and 2007 is the combination of an expansive growth of cities with a reduction in their density, what has left to the titular organisms -corporations mostly municipal- of the developed public spaces, mainly green areas and roads, an inheritance that conditions and limits their administration capacity, due to the conservation duty of the facilities received and their operating cost.
Given the situation in which the electricity market is located and the increasingly demanding environmental regulations, the tendency of public administrations and organizations is to find a solution to the high emissions of polluting gases and decrease in maintenance costs and electric billing.
Due to the great potential of LED technologies, an energetic study of the public lighting of an urbanization is carried out, analyzing the implementation of a series of corrective measures, in order to reduce consumption -and, therefore, the levels of CO2 emissions-, studying the amortization of the necessary investments, justifying compliance with current regulations and concluding with the technical and economic viability of the proposed actions.
