The multifractal analysis it’s as a useful tool to study the temporal structure of hydrometeorological variables. Different multifractal approaches can be applied for this purpose. In the present work, the multifractal properties of the Diurnal Temperature Range (DTR) of 197 meteorological stations of Andalusia have been studied. The multifractal turbulence formalism and the strange attractor formalisms have been applied in order to obtain detailed information about scale invariance properties. As a prerequisite, different methods of data quality control have been carried out, being this step essential to obtain accurate and reliable results. The validation process included gaps detection, range/limits delimitation, diurnal temperature range, and internal consistency and persistence tests. The scaling of the DTR moments has been analysed and empirical moments scaling exponent functions K(q) have been obtained, finding differences between stations. Likewise, the fractal dimension D1 and the multifractal degree (MD) have been obtained. Differences appeared again showing the different homogeneity and behaviour of the series analysed.
