Noise is a great scale environmental problem affecting not only people, but also the fauna that inhabits zones near urban environments or vehicles passing zones. Society transport infrastructure ever-grows in developed countries, hence it is inevitable that they go through zones, which are very proximal to natural environments. When noise emission reduction price is too high, one of the possible solutions consists on the utilization of acoustic barriers. Moreover, it could be interesting to design acoustic barriers that blend into the landscape making them unnoticed. This would allowed, the fauna living inside, to take benefits of it which constitute a matter of great interest. In this way, screens based on sonic crystals could be a suitable candidate in order to do that, as they are opened structures composed by rigid elements that can be covered with absorbent materials that allow vision trough themselves. In this paper, a green-barrier that uses the abovementioned approach is presented. The proposed design is made from natural materials, specifically trees, which are arranged according to a sonic crystal. In addition, trees with different nature and whose bark show absorbent properties will be combined. When selecting the different trees species, autochthonous ones will be carefully assessed.
