The United Nations recognized a significant effect on the dynamics of illicit crops in the region of the Macarena after a fall of 85.6% of the area planted with coca between 2004 and 2012, going from 18,740 to 2699 hectares. Although the security situation has improved and institutional control, the region has a very large gap compared to the rest of the country, 70% of the population has not title, 92% have low income and there is a precarious road and social infrastructure.
In this research we analyze first the effects of the new model of Alternative Development that has its basis in the coceptual approach to rural development projects called Working With People ( Cazorla, I. De Los Ríos, I. Salvo, M . 2013). The research findings from a participatory process with the beneficiaries of the projects crop substitution , allow WWP validate the model in post-conflict regions characterized by low state presence for coca cultivation and presence of illegal armed groups . Furthermore, the investigation draws lessons from the experience to adjust its implementation in the region of the Macarena
