Although the production methodologies and technologies used in the construction sector have evolved over time, much of the work is still done using techniques that can be considered less evolved than those used in other industrial sectors where robotics and other advanced manufacturing technologies are much more implemented.
In this framework it is presented an analysis regarding the integration of production processes based on 3D printing (additive manufacturing) versus conventional manufacturing methodologies in the construction sector. With this aim in mind, a set of experiments on manufacturing construction elements have been conducted, both by conventional methodologies as well as by additive manufacturing. In this way, it is possible to compare variables such as process time, material consumption and quality of each technique, which have an influence on atomization and other aspects such as safety, productivity or environmental impact
