The use of agile project management methodologies is increasingly popular among different organizations, due to the possibilities for adaptation to change that they offer. Integration of these methodologies in the traditional approach presented by the PMBOK, can bring about advantages such as flexibility to different processes, use of visual tools or better integration of stakeholders in the development of the project.
To assess this integration, some of the most used agile methodologies have been analyzed in this work: Kanban, Lean Project Management, Scrum, XP and Canvas, defining the operation of each one, and analyzing the possibilities for their integration in specific PMBOK processes.
The analysis allowed exploring the usefulness of agile methods within different processes and areas of knowledge. A high dependence on the level of integration with the type of project and its level of uncertainty was detected, defined in generic terms in a high usefulness in projects exposed to changes during its development, but presenting risks of documentation and information deficit in large projects.
