In some building typologies with stable electricity consumption profiles in the middle hours of the day, such as administrative and service sector buildings, solar photovoltaic technology is revealed as a source of energy that can replace in big percentage the electrical supply from the conventional network with many economic and environmental benefits.
The article analyzes the PV self-consumption in buildings of different types from the energy point of view, besides reviewing the financial aspects of the current regulatory situation. To do this, a software tool which uses recognized models for the prediction of photovoltaic intraday productions has been developed. This tool compares the productions with the typical consumption curves of three buildings and makes the energy and economic balances.
The analysis is used for the project decision taking on the right site and the determination of optimal design parameters of the self-consumption photovoltaic installation to be built in one of the buildings analyzed. In conclusion, for the typical profile of energy consumption of administrative and service buildings, such facilities are of interest from the economic and energetic point of view discussed in the article.
