The setup operation is an activity that you make in a productive process to prepare the machines to be able to make different products in them. This operation, very normal from always in any productive activity, has acquired great relevancy due to the decrease of the lot size of production to which any industrial process is doomed because the demand of his products is decreasing.
The design of machines or production lines always has considered its efficiency as the parameter more important to consider and it still refuses to contemplate the need to elaborate different products in the same machines, which maximizes the production time of setup operations, increasing the production global cost and increasing the production lot size.
This report presents proposes a group of elements to consider the machine design and production lines for minimizing the time of setup process, for increasing the safety of the process and to reduce the lot size to adapt to the market demand.
