    Abstract
Equivalences between different standardized specifications of materials are usually established with respect to their main chemical and mechanical properties. However, the technological requirements described by equivalent specifications sometimes exhibit significant differences between them. Additionally, publications of key importance about the influence of the chemical composition on the mechanical behaviour of material have not often been taken into account. The aim of this work is to develop a decision tool to distinguish between two different specifications based in the quantification of the efficacy of technological requirements. We have developed a deterministic algorithm that provides a quantifiable value of the efficacy of each requirement, which has been defined as Stringency Level. This methodology has been applied to SA 508 Class 3 nuclear specification included in ASME B&PV American Code and DIN 20MnMoNi55 as described by KTA German Nuclear Safety Rules. Finally, it has been concluded that DIN specification is more suitable than SA specification to be used in the manufacture of the primary loop for PWR-Type Nuclear Power Plants.
