In Tlaltenango, Puebla, Mexico, in 1967 were obtained up to 600 kg/ha of maize, this enough to meet the food needs of the family. Starting this year, with the implementation of an innovation strategy is able to increase yields up to 3,000 kg / ha in 1974 to 5,000 kg / ha in 1992. With this antecedent, in 2010 was organized a group of leading producers of corn production, and in 2011 established 20 hectares which increased to 127 hectares in 2012. In the production process are given the involvement of different stakeholders: the town hall, the farmer and his family, input suppliers and industrial tortilla, along with technical support from the Postgraduate School. With the implementation of this new strategy of innovation and participation of local stakeholders, was able to increase maize production to 7000 kg / ha on average, increased the production of stover for livestock feed and 90 temporary jobs were generated. The active and coordinated participation of different local actors led to improved maize production and proved to be an alternative model to help solve the food problems of society.
