One of the municipal engineering essential tasks is the municipal solid waste collection (MSW). The selective collection introduction has made that the number of collection routes has been multiplied due to more collection trucks are needed, at least one per MSW fraction such as organic-rest, paper and cardboard, glass and plastic fractions. Furthermore the recent years upward trend in fuel prices makes even more important the optimization routes collection. To organize the MSW collection, we must take into account that every town has its own streets layout characteristics and a number of limited resources. That means that the number of waste containers, the number of collection trucks as well as the available staff are basic premises to define the optimum collection routes. This paper presents the plastic selective collection organization in a Spanish town taking into account all these factor and adapting it to the actual resources.
