The European Directive 91/271/EEC explains the requirement of treating urban waste water. This legal standard sets on 2005 the deadline for all towns between 2,000 and 10,000 equivalent inhabitants to have appropriate treatment systems. The organization of the population influences wastewater management. In this regard, one of the most significant cases are small towns.
An indicator has several functions: providing information, supporting policy development and priority setting, contribuingt to the monitoring ofresponse policies and being a tool for information dissemination. The IRI is an index that includes environmental factors in decision-making at a territorial scale. The ICA provides a value which, drawn for different possible treatment lines, allows to select the one whith less impact on the local level. This paper aims to further develop indicators ICA / IRI in a pilot basin through a survey of experts.
