LA SEGURIDAD EN EL SECTOR DE LA CONSTRUCCIÓN DESDE LA PERSPECTIVA DE LOS DIRECTORES DE OBRA RIOJANOS

Abstract

As part of a research project that we are conducting into accidents in the construction industry in La Rioja, a number of comprehensive, rigorous surveys were carried out using a preset structure to prevent interviewees from preparing politically correct answers. This paper presents the main results in regard to safety in the construction industry in La Rioja, with particular emphasis on design projects, health and safety studies and project managers themselves. One of the most striking results is that project managers award the same rating to testing laboratories than to themselves in the sector as a whole, and than the projects and health and safety studies that they conduct. They acknowledge that these documents must improve aspects such as the definition of health and safety studies, definition of the stages of work, economic items and the definition in the design. Safety also needs excellent documents.
