Since 1972, Peru has received funds from non – reimbursable sources within the International Cooperation zone, funds that are normally directed towards capacity building programs, institutional strengthening and the promotion of productive activities; however this assistance has been decreasing due to the economic strengthening of the country as a whole. In this context, the not-for-profit entities have had to expand relations and synergies between different developmental areas as a way to access social and economic resources. This has – in fact - created a transition from projects funded by International Cooperation to ones created in partnership with the business sector via social responsibility projects. This transition is analyzed for the case of an association in Cañete created in 1964 that focuses on integral education for women geared to promote strategies to ensure equity and equality. The results indicate that the relationship with the private business sector and the joint development projects implementation, places the institution in a better position to acquire internal financing, validate and improve its working methods, maintain stable and good relations, provide training to more women and to have the ability to work with a local partner in the country of origin.es_ES
