Abstract

The Andalusian region, given its geographical location, makes it strategic within the global logistics sector with a high potential for impact on an eminently agricultural productive economy. However, the austerity policies that currently emanate from the EU are causing a clear deceleration of public investments aimed at transport and communications infrastructures, absolutely necessary for the future of the sector. A clear example of this, we have in the enormous difficulties that is presenting the implementation of the investments necessary for the development of the future Mediterranean Rail Corridor. This, coupled with the lack of a firm regional policy that promotes the definitive implementation of the planned Logistics Platform in the Andalusian territory, is putting a stop to the definitive takeoff of this strategic sector in our region We analyze with this work, the current situation, and its potential development in the Andalusian territory. Evaluating its impact and future as an engine of economic growth. We consider its potential for development as a strategic sector and its impact in rural areas. For this we will perform a SWOT Analysis of the same, exposing, discussing the results and presenting by way of conclusion proposals for improvement.
