This study aims to reduce the release of organic compounds (MCs) in the aquatic environment, eliminating these MCs from the wastewater by applying an advanced treatment that allows their direct or indirect reuse. This work consists of a biological treatment (MBR) with an advanced treatment of the effluent with ozone (O3) with high and low doses; In a pilot scale laboratory plant, where synthetic wastewater of similar urban characteristics has been treated. The synthetic waste water is doped with 14 microcontaminants. The MBR works HRT = 21 hours, at room temperature, dissolved oxygen from 1 to 5 mg/L, SRT = 30 days and average flow of 5.5 L /m2*h.The oxidation efficiency of organic matter, nitrogen and total phosphorus was on average 96%, 26% and 34%, respectively. Biological treatment achieves efficiencies above 98% for most compounds, except carbamazepine, 17-a-ethinylestradiol and diclofenac, which are more refractory. However these compounds are reduced by the application of O3 in yields of greater than 98%. These results demonstrate that many microcontaminants present in wastewater can be efficiently oxidized with complementary technologies.es_ES
