| dc.description | The origins of the current International Conference on Project Management and Engineering (ICPME) date back to the mid-1980s, when the meetings of project professors in Engineering Schools were formalized, after the creation of the knowledge areas in 1984. Said meetings they became the Spanisn National Congress on Project Engineering congress and later the congress became international allowing the presentation of articles in Spanish, English and Portuguese. In these almost 40 years the structure of the congress has been transformed, allowing oral, poster and virtual presentations, and has standardized the assessment of the presented papers to obtain products of higher scientific quality, both in the proceedings of the congress and in publications derived from it. . The objective of this work is to present the contribution of the Congress to the conformation of a discipline that started from an eminently practical approach and has evolved in the formalization of its scientific foundations, its repercussion in the Spanish and Ibero-American spheres, and its influence on the increase of the research capacity of the teaching staff assigned to the area of engineering projects and other areas of knowledge that also participate significantly in this congress. | dc.description.abstract | Los orígenes del actual Congreso Internacional en Dirección e Ingeniería de Proyectos (CIDIP) se remontan a mediados de la década de los 80, cuando se formalizan los encuentros de profesores de proyectos en Escuelas de Ingeniería, tras la creación de las áreas de conocimiento en 1984. Dichas reuniones se convirtieron en el congreso nacional de ingeniería de proyectos y posteriormente el congreso se internacionalizó permitiendo la presentación de artículos en español, inglés y portugués. En estos casi 40 años la estructura del congreso se ha transformado, permitiendo presentaciones orales, como poster y virtuales, y ha estandarizando la evaluación de las ponencias para obtener productos de mayor calidad científica, tanto en las actas del congreso como en publicaciones derivadas del mismo. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar la contribución del Congreso a la conformación de una disciplina que partía de un enfoque eminentemente práctico y ha evolucionado en la formalización de sus fundamentos científicos, su repercusión en los ámbitos español e iberoamericano, y su influencia en el incremento de la capacidad investigadora del profesorado adscrito al área de proyectos de ingeniería y de otras áreas de conocimiento que también participan significativamente en este congreso.
