| dc.description | Construction projects in Ecuador present significant deviations in time and cost with respect to the values established in the contract award phase. Therefore, this research identifies the main risks that exist during construction infrastructures in Ecuador, analyzes their level of importance, and identifies the determining factors in their occurrence. To this end, information was collected from 53 construction contracts through interviews with contractors, and an analysis was carried out using statistical techniques. The results showed that there are five main risk factors: factors external to the work, failures arising from the design phase, problems among the agents involved, and financing problems of the promoter. | dc.description.abstract | Los proyectos de construcción en Ecuador presentan importantes desviaciones en plazo y coste respecto a los valores fijados en la fase de adjudicación de los contratos. Por ello, la presente investigación identifica los principales riesgos presentes en la construcción de infraestructuras en Ecuador, analiza su nivel de importancia e identifica los factores determinantes en su ocurrencia. Para ello, se recopiló información de 53 contratos de obras a través de entrevistas con contratistas y se llevaron a cabo análisis mediante técnicas estadísticas. Los resultados destacaron que cinco factores son los principales causantes de los riesgos: factores externos a la obra, fallos procedentes de la fase de diseño, problemas entre agentes involucrados y problemas de financiación del promotor.
