El proceso de integración de la sociedades eléctricas valencianas.

Abstract

In the early twentieth century appeared in Spain and particularly in the Valencian Community a thriving electricity generation and distribution market. Many local companies emerged starting from small business based on thermal, hydroelectric generation and even a combination of both. The power lines were changing the landscape. In this stage, a company founded in Madrid in 1907, Hidroeléctrica Española, was implanted in this region, providing the concession of important jumps in the river Júcar. However, as the century progressed and progressively, the market became unified. The companies were merging and integrating with each other, decreasing in number but increasing in capacity. The process would end in a single company, Hidroeléctrica Española, currently Iberdrola. The article intends to analyze this process by deepening the reasons that gave it shape in this territorial area.
