ADMINISTRACIÓN EN CAJAS DE AHORRO RURALES: CASO DE LA FEDERACION DE SOCIEDADES DE SOLIDARIDAD SOCIAL DE LA CORDILLERA DEL TENTZO

Abstract

In Mexico, savings banks are utilized by small producers of the rural environment as a strategy to obtain financing for productive activities and to solve economic problems; however, low levels of social and financial consolidation have been reported, as well as a high rate of failure in its operation. Based on this premise, it was proposed to make an analysis of administration process and how its application influence in functioning and impact savings banks and determinate their success or failure. A case study on the savings banks of the Federación de Sociedades de Solidaridad Social de la Cordillera del Tentzo, located in the State of Puebla, Mexico, was developed. For this study, the neoclassical theory was considered in order to identify the administrative situation. The result found was that many elements of administration process are applied partially and other elements are not employed at all. The aforesaid has been attributed to the fact that rules and regulations are unknown to the members, mainly due to the lack training in this aspect as well as to the difficulty of applying some of these rules to the rural society because of using a language unfamiliar for the organization.
