“DEL CIELO A LA TIERRA”: LA INGENIERÍA Y SU VINCULACIÓN CON EL SISTEMA ESCOLAR EN CHILE

Abstract

At higher education levels, communication between peers favors the exchange of knowledge and the development of new projects and ideas. However, if that same level of communication and formalism is used to transfer this knowledge to a non-expert public, it is not easy to capture curiosity and interest in science in general, and engineering in particular. Getting the interest of people who are outside the scope of research and university, bring science closer to the youngest and thus achieve a real impact on society is a great challenge. In this sense, academics from the University of Talca have developed different projects that try to bring science to those sectors most disadvantaged. Thus, "TruckLab: Science and Technology on Wheels" seeks to improve the learning of biology, physics and chemistry in the most remote areas of the Maule region, through a mobile laboratory mounted on a truck. For its part, the program "DTC: developing scientific talents" seeks to bring science in a fun and experimental way to high school students through a series of challenges and competitions among schools in the region.
