dc.descriptionPara contribuir a la correcta gestión de los residuos que se generan en la sociedad actual es muy útil el diseño e implantación de herramientas que, a partir del análisis de la situación de partida, permitan reducir la cantidad de residuos generados y mejorar su gestión. La falta de estudios de caracterización de residuos procedentes de centros universitarios, deja patente la necesidad de investigar en este campo, con el objetivo de disponer de datos suficientes para proponer medidas destinadas a la minimización y aprovechamiento de los mismos. Un Plan de Gestión de Residuos es una herramienta de planificación que tras un análisis exhaustivo y un buen conocimiento de la cantidad y tipo de residuos, plantea una serie de medidas a aplicar, en este caso en las universidades, para mejorar su gestión y reducir en lo posible su tasa de generación. En este trabajo se ha definido una metodología para proponer un plan de gestión eficiente de los residuos adaptado a los centros universitarios. Posteriormente se ha aplicado al caso concreto de la Universitat Jaume I, para identificar y cuantificar todas las corrientes de residuos generadas en ella, y así proponer un conjunto de medidas que permitan mejorar la actual gestión. dc.description.abstractTo contribute to the correct management of the waste generated by society is very useful the design and the implantation of tools that from the analysis of the initial situation allow to reduce the quantity of generated waste, and to improve their management. The lack of waste characterization at universities reflects the need to investigate and study the composition of this type of waste in order to have the necessary information to propose measures to minimize and to exploit it. A waste management plan is an organization tool that after an exhaustive analysis and a good knowledge of the quantity and type of generated waste sets out measures to be applied, in this case at universities, in order to improve the waste management generated at it and to reduce as far as possible waste generation. In this paper we have defined a methodology to propose a plan of waste management adapted to the universities. Afterwards, the designed methodology has been applied to the specific case of the Universitat Jaume I, to identify and quantify all kind of wastes generated at it, and to propose a set of measures that allow a more efficient waste management than the current one.
