PROYECTO PARA MITIGAR LA MIGRACIÓN DE LOS ADOLESCENTES: ESTUDIO DE CASO AMIGOS DE OZOLCO

Abstract

This article discusses the community projects resulting from the migration of parents and teenagers from an indigenous community in the state of Puebla, Mexico. We are interested in the attitude of migrant population at San Mateo Ozolco; on one hand there is a group that migrates over a long period of time and occasionally returns to the village. Another group, the Ozolco friends return to settle definitively, develops economic projects and performs community actions. The methodology consists on interviews. The results indicate that child migration has been reduced, which highlights the participation of organizations like Save the Children that work with the student population, the development of new agricultural products, the creation of a new high school, scholarship programs and sport activities.
